QUICK HISTORY ON CINCO DE MAYO

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a regional holiday in Mexico, celebrated mainly in the state of Puebla. This holiday commemorates the Mexican army's defeat of French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

The outnumbered Mexicans defeated the French army that had never lost a battle in 50 years.

Cinco De Mayo is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. A common misconception in the U.S is that Cinco de Mayo is Mexico's Independence Day. September 16, is the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico, which is there actual Independence Day.
